| Enjoy invigorating daily BodyTonic Pilates and yoga classes with studio owner, Jennifer DeLuca and deputy director, Candice Thompson. However you decide to retreat you will fall asleep to the sound of the waves... |
8 Days to Relax, Restore, and Renew:
A Tulum Journal |
| |
| Day 1: Arrival. Check in is at 3pm but early arrival is not a problem. You can lounge about in the many cozy spots around Shambala Petit Hotel. There are also lovely places nearby to have a snack or a margarita, and lounge about. We will have a late afternoon class in yoga or pilates or a mix of both, to work out the travel kinks followed by a scrumptious dinner. Get settled in, take your shoes off, and fall asleep to the waves... |
| Day 2: Coffee served at 8am with a morning class where you can breathe in the ocean air, wake up, and energize. Breakfast of every imaginable fruit, croissants, cheeses, yogurt, granola. Then lounge, explore, read, chat, sleep, or get a massage. Lunch is served at 1 with fresh squeezed juices like guava or coconut, or passion fruit--every day is a surprise. Fresh guacamole, perhaps accompanied by ceviche or a local rice and fresh fish dish. More free time. Evening class at 5pm. Dinner at 6:30. Fresh salads, Tilapia cooked in banana leaf with mango salsa, rice and vegetables and coconut sorbet. All made fresh on the premises. Lie out on a lounge chair and stare at the stars. |
| Day 3: Coffee, morning class, excursion day! Maybe one that includes a hike in the jungle to see the monkeys, followed by a zipline across a lake, that leads to some spelunking. You might add in a ceremony of blessing by a Mayan Shaman. Wrap it all up with a bike ride to a Mayan Temple for a hike with your friends and to take photos in the clouds. After all of that, you will be tired, so we will take you to the finest coffee stop in town, before heading to our cabanas to shower and meet up for a restorative candle-lit yoga class to allow the body to recover. |
| Day 4: Coffee, Morning class, breakfast, hanging out and talking about the cool trip we did yesterday. Lunch, more hanging out, maybe take a kite-surfing lesson, or get a massage, or shop the local artists--handmade fashion you will not see anywhere else. Chat with people from all over the world or enjoy your solitude. Evening class. Dinner. Nightime...the stars are so inspiring, I had to buy myself a home planetarium for my bedroom here in Brooklyn. |
Day 5: Coffee Morning class, breakfast. Maybe shoot into town, or explore other places on the beach, lunch, free time. Evening class, dinner, maybe head out to hear some local music on the beach.
Day 6: Coffee, Morning class. By now everybody is looking 10 years younger and feeling super strong. Maybe today is the day you...try a headstand, take a kite-surfing lesson, touch your toes! Wear the bikini! Perhaps a second excursion. Maybe 1/2 day snorkeling cenotes, lunch, evening class, stars, music, whatever suits your new relaxed self. |
Day 7: Coffee, Morning class, again, feeling longer, stronger, calmer, more energized. Breakfast, maybe a long walk on the beach or cartwheels! Think of whatever you would like to do to enjoy the last full day you have. Lunch, finish your book. Evening class, dinner, stars, music, maybe a little tequila!
Day 8: Coffee, Morning class--bring your requests! Delicious fresh breakfast and check out. Good byes where you know the trip will be with you long after you leave.... |
